Drawing Children
Aberystwyth University, Lifelong Learning

This module will be delivered as a self -paced learning using our virtual learning environment of Blackboard. You will access a series of learning units that will develop your drawing skills to collate a series of sketches that include the equivalent skills attained within a traditional figure drawing class. You will be required to execute sketches using a variety of drawing medium and play with compositional techniques to create impact and narrative.
This is a theme that artists have used as the focus for narrative. Examples are Edward Ardizzone, Claudia Williams, John Singer Sergeant, Sorolla and Joan Eardly. Themes will be the seaside, children at play, the domestic home narrative and sleep.
All Learning Units will contain demonstrations and narrated PowerPoints to give contextual references to your learning. There will be a chance to have a tutorial with your tutor and regular email feedback threads that will strengthen your skills.
This course is not suitable for students who have little experience of figure drawing.
