Learn Along: Change your story
21 September to 25 September 2020
The Parent Learning Group would like to introduce a variety of activities for a full week for adults to join in for more learning to change their life. Cathays High School will organize a combination of interactive taster sessions for creative recycling sewing, interview skills, volunteering skills, healthy eating cookery, fitness and yoga, health awareness on diabetic foot care, Bengali language taster, driving theory taster along with lots of literacy and numeracy skills sessions.
Some sessions might have volunteers from the community to role model to inspire others. Special guests will give talk about learning and work to engage them. We would not only promote taster activities for people to take part in them but also arrange people from outside agencies like The Mentor Ring, Career Wales, Lark Design, NHS, Meadowside yoga and reflexology, Adult Learning Wales and Adult Learning Cardiff to share talks to inform and educate the learners to signpost them to the right direction through our digital platform.
Internal and external staff will run the project from Cathays high school digitally to build up the relationship with the wider community. Some of the taster sessions might become prospective courses for the next academic year depending on demand of the courses and availability of funding.
Our school ethos is opportunities for all, which clearly shows how we are supporting our wider community to make education accessible to all. Our vision is to have parents educated so that they can be a good role model to their children and be back in learning or work to give their children a better future.
