Way Out West (WOW) First Aid Training
Way Out West (WOW) First Aid Training is a Pembrokeshire-based training provider with a simple mission: to make high-quality first aid and life-saving education affordable, accessible and relevant to everyone. Founded by Tracy Law, a former paediatric nurse and qualified teacher with more than 30 years’ experience across health and education, WOW combines professional expertise with a warm, inclusive and learner-centred approach.
At the heart of WOW is a belief that first aid is much more than workplace compliance. It is a life skill that can empower ordinary people to respond confidently when a family member, colleague, friend or stranger needs help. This is particularly important in rural communities, where geographical distance and mobile phone coverage can sometimes add to the challenges of an emergency.
WOW provides a comprehensive range of nationally recognised and accredited training, including First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and Emergency Paediatric First Aid, alongside bespoke workplace and industry-specific training. Courses can be delivered through blended learning, on-site, in groups and at flexible times to meet the needs of employers, seasonal workers and small organisations.
However, community and adult learning are central to the WOW ethos. Community CPR and Basic Life Support sessions provide informal, practical opportunities for adults to learn CPR, defibrillator use, choking management and how to respond to an unconscious casualty—without the pressure of gaining a formal qualification. These sessions are designed to welcome complete beginners as well as those wanting to refresh their skills.
WOW also delivers Junior Lifesavers and family first aid sessions, helping children, parents, grandparents and carers learn together. Pet First Aid courses support both pet owners and professionals, while specialist training can be developed for sectors including tourism, hospitality, childcare, schools, forestry and other higher-risk environments.
The learning experience is deliberately interactive, practical and supportive. Rather than simply delivering information, WOW focuses on developing confidence, encouraging questions and giving learners the opportunity to practise real-life skills. This learner-centred approach has received consistently strong feedback, with learners describing the training as engaging, relaxed and confidence-building.
Ultimately, WOW First Aid Training exists to help create safer, more confident and more resilient communities—one learner, one workplace and one life-saving skill at a time.
