Ceramic Techniques
This is a one-off demonstration of a Japanese ceramic technique known as Mishima. The YouTube video has been created by Lyn Thomas who is a very experienced Pottery and Ceramics tutor who has worked as an adult learning tutor for more than 20 years.
Mishima ceramics comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally transported from Korea around the 16th century. This surface design technique is a way of drawing by inlaying a slip of contrasting colour into lines incised in leather-hard clay.
