Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama
The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama nurtures and challenges the best creative talent from across the globe, empowering excellence, firing imagination and driving innovation.
As Wales’ national conservatoire and a dynamic arts centre, we train more than 900 actors, musicians, designers, technicians and arts managers from over 40 countries, training them for a sustainable career in the arts as leaders of the next generation of artists.
Based in the capital city Cardiff, our students are immersed in a live industry environment, working across drama, music and design from the moment they arrive. Our students push the boundaries of what the arts can do, collaborating and creating new work across a range of professional and community settings.
As Wales’ largest producing house, the College attracts leading international artists, providing opportunities integral to students’ training and an opportunity to learn directly from some of the world’s most renowned performers.
The College’s events calendar encompasses over 500 public performances and exhibitions every year from classical to the contemporary, including orchestral concerts, drama, opera, puppetry and musical theatre.
Our dedicated teachers have a wealth of professional and industry experience. The College collaborates with high-profile arts organisations, including BBC, Welsh National Opera and a wide range of visiting artists and directors, to ensure that the unique vocational nature of our training reflects current industry practice.
Inspired by the possibilities of performance and creative diversity we champion collaboration and empower excellence in all its forms. Passion and craft entwine with experience and play to elevate, provoke, push and transform.
