To celebrate Adult Learners’ Week Swansea Lifelong Learning Service will be offering FREE face-to-face taster sessions.
Creative Writing Monday 15 September 10.30-12pm Killay Library FREE- Curious about creative writing but not sure where to start? Join our relaxed and inspiring Creative Writing Taster Session—a welcoming introduction for anyone wanting to explore their inner storyteller. Whether you have a story in your head, a notebook full of ideas, or just a love of words, this session will give you a feel for what creative writing is all about.
No experience needed—just bring a pen, paper, and your imagination!
Jewellery -Making for Wellbeing Monday 15 September 11-1pm The ARC Portmead FREE 19+ – Drawing on colour theory and with a choice of glass and mineral gems we will make a simple bracelet and necklace set. We will reflect on why we are drawn to certain colours, symbolically creating the circles which will encapsulate our wrists and necks (or those of our loved ones).
Walk & Create Tuesday 16 September 11-2pm Swansea Beach FREE (Meet at the Secret) 19+ – Enjoy feeling connected to nature? Join us in this unique workshop, exploring creative ways to connect with each other and nature. Natural art and music-maker Patti will take you on a journey- internal and external- responding to the sights and sounds of the Swansea coast, with birdsong at the core.
Gardening and Soup Making Wednesday 17 September 11.30am-1pm Bonymaen Communities for Work FREE 19+ – Join our Tutors to improve your health & Wellbeing as you tend the garden at the Communities for Work building, then learn how to cook a warming soup suitable for the whole family. Whether you’re dreaming of a greener thumb or just love homemade comfort food, this taster offers a relaxed and rewarding introduction to the home grown-to-bowl experience. Come hungry to learn—and to taste!
Mental Health First Aid Wednesday 17 September 1-3pm The ARC Portmead FREE 19+ – Mental Health First Aid promotes awareness, reduces stigma, and equips individuals to recognise signs of mental health issues. It empowers people to offer support, encourage open conversations, and guide others towards professional help—fostering safer, more empathetic communities and learning environments.
IT for the Terrified Friday 19 September 11.30am-1.30pm The ARC Portmead FREE 19+ – Feeling overwhelmed by technology? You’re not alone!
Our free taster session is a relaxed, no-jargon introduction designed for complete beginners who want to build confidence using computers, smartphones, or tablets. Whether you’ve never touched a keyboard or just need help with the basics like email, internet browsing, or using apps, this friendly session will give you a taste of what IT can do for you!
